Some nine months after leaving his administrative post with the Buffalo Sabres and other Pegula Sports & Entertainment business ventures, Michael Gilbert has formed a consulting company.

The Gibby Consulting  Group is designed to work on businesses — and not just those connected to the sports and entertainment fields — grow and increase revenues.

“One of the advantages I have coming from the sports world is that I can help businesses look at issues from a different lens and view point,” Gilbert said. “One of things I am good at, is helping businesses connect the dots.”

Gilbert spent nearly three decades working in the sports world including a 22-year tenure with the Sabres that ended in January. Gilbert also worked for the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles as well as serving as an intern with the Buffalo Bills.

“Personally, it was time for a change and a time to try something different,” Gilbert said. “I used the past few months to take a step back and really examine things.”

While with the Sabres, Gilbert helped manage a number of different things ranging from deep playoff runs, hosting the NHL draft and scouting combines and special events like the NCAA men’s basketball playoffs, World Juniors and Frozen Four. He also assisted Terry and Kim Pegula when they bought the Sabres in 2011 and the Bills three years later.

“I have enough ‘behind-the-scenes’ experience that I can offer the insight a company may need,” Gilbert said.`
